INFORMATION ON BY-LAWS

The Township of Beckwith is governed through numerous By-laws. The following is a summary of the more important ones, those which deal with common problems or issues.

ANIMAL CONTROL BY-LAW

Being a non-urban municipality, the Township must ensure the safety of its livestock and pets. Therefore, animals including dogs, are not to be left running at large within the Township. Running at large means that the animal is not in care and control of its owner. If an animal is found to be running at large it can be seized and impounded. The owner would be responsible for any damage the animal did during the period of being at large and could face a fine for such an offence.

BUILDING BY-LAW

The Township is governed by the Ontario Building Code and the Building By-law of the municipality. The fees and regulations to be met are addressed in the by-law and should be reviewed when determining construction requirements.

NOISE CONTROL BY-LAW

There is currently a noise control By-law which governs noise between 11 pm and 7 am.

ZONING BY-LAW AND OFFICIAL PLAN
