After Hours: A mail slot is located at the front door of the Municipal Office,
no cash please.
Post dated cheques: You are encouraged to remit post-dated cheques using the
preprinted addressed envelope provided.
Internet: Online bill payment service. Registration required.
Bank Payments: At the Bank of Nova Scotia branches in Carleton Place, Smiths
Falls, and Perth.
Pre-authorized: Tax Payment - Option 1: Installment Plan payments to be
automatically withdrawn from your account due on installment
date. Option 2: Monthly Plan - based on estimated taxes and
will include twelve equal payments starting the last working
day in October, adjustments may be required depending on
Final taxes levied. Your account must be current to be eligible
for the plan. There is no serivce fee for enrollment. Please call
for further details.
LATE PAYMENT CHARGES
Please note, payments are recorded on the date they are received, NOT the post mark date. Payments received after the due date will be charged a penalty at a rate of 15% per annum (1.25% per month).
If you require a receipt, please return your complete tax bill with payment, which will be stamped, paid and returned for your records.
RETURNED CHEQUE FEE
Returned cheques will be charged a $15.00 administration fee.
MORTGAGE COMPANIES
If your mortgage company is responsible for paying your taxes, please forward this bill to them for payment. This will be the only bill issued.
CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP OR MAILING ADDRESS
If the property has changed ownership, send the bill to the new owner or return it to the tax office, indicating to whom the transfer of title has been made. Please advise the Tax Office in writing of any mailing address changes.
SUPPLEMENTARY TAXES
A Supplementary tax bill may be issued where a property is not completely assessed at the time of preparation of assessment rolls or where a new building has reached completion or is occupied, or a property becomes taxable. A supplementary tax bill is in addition to the regular tax bill.
