BECKWITH WATER SUPPLY PROGRAM

Community Information Notice

The purpose of this notice is to inform the homeowners about the implementation plans for the Water Supply Program.

1.      The Program has been developed by the Township of Beckwith and it was presented to the community at an Open House on Monday October 1, 2007. In addition, information will be provided directly to each home in the implementation area.

2.      The Program will be voluntary to all existing homes in the implementation area.

3.      Those that join the program will receive all necessary water treatment equipment at no charge. The monitoring, rebedding and maintenance of the filters will be provided at cost.

4.      All homeowners will be asked to participate in an in-home assessment at no cost to determine the individual home treatment requirements. This began immediately after the Open House and is well underway. The visits to the homes are coordinated by Township staff and the technical assessment will be performed by the Township’s technical consultants.

5.      After this stage has been completed the design of the treatment system will be completed for all homes.

6.      Based on a competitive tender, a contractor will be selected to perform the installation of the treatment systems.

7.      A second Open House is planned to present the final installation schedule and costs. At that time all homeowners will be asked to join the program and to sign a homeowner agreement. Treatment system installation will immediately follow.

8.      Fees will not apply until Township of Beckwith Council determines that the Program is fully operational.

9.      The water depot will remain open until the program is fully implemented.
